This has been a beautiful week here in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I am here covering the wedding of Diane & Anthony (an incredible couple from Toronto) at the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana.
Also here is a shot from their wintery cold engagement shoot in Toronto.

Hats off to Continental Airlines they really impressed me when I flew with them for the first time on a business trip last week to Phoenix.
I had left my new Apple iTouch in one of the seatbacks on flight back to Buffalo and before I realized it the next day that it was missing, there was an email the next morning from one of their reps saying they had found it and would Fedex it back to me at no charge.

I had a blast at the Images of the Year gala event held at Splashlight Studio in NYC. It was so amazing to have my work alongside a winning print of Leonardo DiCaprio by Annie Leibovitz as well as work by fashion master Patrick Demarchelier and Albert Watson. During the evening they also ran a large projection of some additional editors fav's which included two more of my images. Here are a few images from that evening.

Here are a few favorites from Brechtje & Manuel's wedding in Tokyo, Japan September 7, 2007. Even though we weren’t able to have the ceremony outside due to the Typhoon, we still had a beautiful ceremony inside Villas des Mariages - Hibiya Palace in Hibiya park, Chiyoda-ku and an opportunity for great images outside later that afternoon in Hama-rikyu Gardens in Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
(Hama-rikyu is one of the largest traditional Japanese gardens in Tokyo, built in the 17th century for a feudal lord. Later it was used by the Tokugawa Shoguns as a duck hunting ground. Apart from many flowers and trees, there is a beautiful tea house over the pond, and a 300-year-old pine tree. The view on the city skyline is truly 'Tokyo' in that it's a juxtaposition of the 'traditional zen' and 'modern Japan'.)

Update:
After a nine day long cross country tour which had me spending time and shooting wedding and engagements in Salt Lake City, St. Louis, and Nyc with stops also in Cincinnati, Buffalo, Chicago, I realized that I haven't added any of the volume of events of the past two months...yikes.
Keep and eye out for updates this week..:)

Last Monday and Tuesday at my workshop in Scottsdale, AZ I had the
opportunity to meet some amazing photographers from Arizona as well as one
from Vail, Colorado and one from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. They were all at various
stages of their careers...some were well established photographers and some
were new to the scene but each of them had a creative passion and a drive to
progress. It is exciting to talk about ideas and experiences with people who have the same passion for photography that I have...can't wait to see how they progress over the next few years...

A winter wedding at the Paletta Mansion is truly magical…Kelly & Chad couldn’t have chosen a more inspiring location to celebrate their special day. The view of the lake from the balcony was a stunning backdrop for the day and the snow arrived just in time to dust the ground in a blanket of white.
They also had a completely unique twist to their wedding ceremony…their wedding rings were passed to each guest before they were placed on their fingers…it was a pleasure to work with such a fun and sincere couple and I wish them a world of happiness in their future together.

From Nova Scotia, I headed to New York where I once again had the oppurtunity to share with photographers all over North America. Here are a few shots from my presentaions..thanks go out to Sophia Negron for the pics.
Blurb from the press release:
"PhotoPlus Expo 2006 Photography & Design Conference, a premier resource for information, solutions, ideas, and networking, gives seasoned photographers, advanced amateurs and imaging professionals the tools they need to stay ahead of the curve in the fast-changing world of photography and imaging.
Sharing with photographers how to simplify, personalize and build a profitable business into the future, Davide’s platform seminar took place all three days at the conference. Davide joins the ranks of Pictage sponsored speakers and the only Canadian that includes the founder of wedding photojournalism, Denis Reggie and world-renowned wedding photographers, Mike Colon and David Jay."

I had a great time in NYC also getting in some down time and hangin with some of my friends from the DWF & OSP forums including fabulous photographers David Jay, Cliff Mautner, Mark Gardner and Desiree. During the first evening we took in dinner and drinks at Buddha Bar...loved the interior styling!(pics from BB website)

In Arizona for two weddings this week, I will be kickin it here for 9 days.
It is a beautiful hot day in Phoenix today and I am working hard on post production for my past weddings from September.
One of the busiest months of my life, during September I photographed 9 weddings and traveled from Califonia to Nova Scotia.
I know I have the best job in the world, as I sit here doing some editing while I am in Sedona today in one of the worlds most amazing surroundings.
These shots are taken from my current view while working!

Updates over the last few months have been rare and i hope to fix that from here on in..:)
It has been busier than usual working on my full day workshop, my seminar at PartnerCon in LA, 6 weddings, the over 20 engagement shoots I have done in the last 2 months in Scottsdale, Toronto, Sedona and NYC, the new marketing push I have been doing in Japan, not to mention the booking of weddings in 8 different countries.
Here are a few of my fav's from Marlize & Keith's wedding

Just catching up after a week in Georgia. The weather was so beautiful in the 70's, felt so incredible to feel the warmth on your skin again. After touching down in Atlanta, I picked up a car and drove out to Savannah. Visited Tybee beach and a few other locations around Savannah, it was a relaxing few days before heading back to Atlanta. On wednesday I participated in a speakers workshop sponsored by Pictage at the Sheraton Gateway....took in a Strokes concert downtown and then PartnerCon seminars on thursday..what a week!
Here is a pic of the other presenters in the speakers workshop..dubbed the David triangle: David Salamone, Me, Liana Lehman (honorary David)and David Jay.

Well to start the week off with a bit of fun we finally migrated the site over to the new domain name... "davide.cc" a might bit shorter than the former one. Hopefully there has been no loss of emails in the process.
In case you are wondering..."what's with the Davide"?
I am going back to the other spelling of my name for branding purposes...there was a lot of confusion with going on with Hollywood cinematographer David Greene...who also is a Canadian.
This is the first in the process of changes that will include the rebranding of my company the launch of a killer new media rich website and a bunch of new services including our beautiful new Platinum series custom designed fine art books.
With these new changes I will be able to dedicate more quality to my clients..something I am really looking forward to..:)

After arriving back Saturday from St. Louis and a healthy sleep I headed off to a unique wedding reception party. Angela & Howard were married earlier in the week, but wanted to have their Goth lounge style reception covered. The hall looked spectacular done in all black and ox blood red. The evening featured a few quick speeches and toasts, but was mainly about the celebration. A few quick pics can be seen here..

Had a great time last week in Missouri. Spent some time hanging out, shooting, and working through a lot of business ideas with my friend Spring Hansen.
On the Tuesday we took in Gary Fong's "One Step Ahead" seminar in St. Louis and learned "Golden Rules" that made him one of the most successful wedding photographer's in history. The amazing things about Gary fact that is just plain old down to earth nice guy with no big ego and he openly shares his knowledge making you really get the honest feeling he wants to see you succeed. A bunch of us including Gary & Melissa went out for late night pancakes afterwords even though I think most of us were so tired, we resembled zombies more than photographers.
Here are some pics from that evening: a pic of Gary and me, a pic taken by Gary of Spring and me, plus a shot of me doing my best Zoolander pose with my overloaded blueberry topping pancakes...I thought you are supposed to put the blueberries in the pancakes...lol.
Also a shot of Spring from our 2min. session before the police showed up...
